Las Vegas Raiders: Danny Amendola begins second career as coach

As a player, Danny Amendola won the Super Bowl twice with the New England Patriots. Now he has begun his second career as a coach

Danny Amendola has a new role. The former wide receiver has joined the Las Vegas Raiders coaching staff.

In doing so, he takes on the role of coaching assistant for the returners.

Amendola entered the NFL as an undrafted player in 2008 and spent his first season on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before playing for the St. Louis Rams from 2009 to 2012 and joining the New England Patriots in 2013.

Most successful time with the Patriots

With the Patriots, Amendola had his most successful time, winning the Super Bowl twice. There he worked with then-offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who has been the Raiders’ head coach since last year, so Amendola is an old acquaintance on the coaching staff.

Amendola is not alone in that connection. Offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree, tight ends coach Jerry Schuplinski, offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and senior defensive assistant Rob Ryan also have a past with the Patriots.
