The Jacksonville Jaguars wanted to know from their fans why they are no longer keen on season tickets. One result is obvious, but others are quite unusual
Munich – Why are the fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars no longer interested in their team? This is the question that the NFL team explored in a survey, digging into why supporters have cancelled their season tickets.
The top answer is not surprising given the team’s athletic record in recent years: 64 percent said the poor results were the reason for quitting.
Defeats en masse
In the past two years, spectators at TIAA Bank Field have seen as many as four wins, but 29 defeats. In the last 14 years, there have been 67 wins and 158 losses. So a lot of gloom, for some clearly too much.
The second reason is the weather: 51 percent no longer want to watch the Jaguars because there is too little shade and too many games at 1 p.m. local time in the first weeks of the season. Clearly: Primetime is difficult in view of the permanent sporting misery.
The price of the season ticket comes third with 35 per cent, ahead of the match schedule (23 per cent) and the distance to the stadium (seven per cent). A total of 6,000 people took part in the survey.
Fans want a renovation
What should give the Jaguars pause for thought is that 90 per cent would like to see the 27-year-old stadium renovated, with 80 per cent saying they would be more likely to attend a game if they did. In the survey, the aging stadium was the reason for six percent to cancel their season tickets.
