In open letter: Plaintiff attacks Cleveland Browns and Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns and Deshaun Watson continue to find themselves under criticism. In an open letter, Lauren Baxley, one of the 22 plaintiffs against the quarterback, calls the Browns, the fanbase and Watson himself “evil. “

Munich – Just over a week ago, Deshaun Watson signed his mega-contract with the Cleveland Browns. It will pay him 230 million US dollars over the next five years, although there are still allegations of sexual harassment in at least 22 cases.

Now one of the alleged victims has spoken out and sharply criticised the franchise. In an open letter, Lauren Baxley, who last year became the second woman to make allegations against Watson public, wrote that she suffers from massive insults on social media. Among other things, she was called a “prostitute”. Although she and other women have been deemed “very credible” by prosecutors and detectives, no case has yet been brought against the quarterback.

A day before the plaintiffs’ hearing, a man named Coby DuBose, himself a defence lawyer, tweeted that it would be “hilarious” for the women’s defence lawyers if they were charged with prostitution, Baxley continued in her letter. DuBose’s Twitter account has since been suspended.

Further, Baxley stated that the Cleveland Browns had allowed themselves to be “lulled” by Deshaun Watson. She, too, would have felt comfortable in Watson’s presence in the beginning. Until he “lured her into a trap” and abused her. It was the typical behaviour of “such people”, Baxley continued. Moreover, Watson, his fans and the Cleveland Browns were “evil” because they would turn a blind eye and pretend that none of this ever happened.

She ended her letter with an appeal: “I would never expect any public figure to side with the victims. I do, however, ask anyone who enjoys responsibility to uphold basic morality, keep their mouth shut and log off Twitter if you are thinking of giving him (Watson; ed.) support. “
