Quarterback Russell Wilson is getting his own office as part of his move to the Denver Broncos. This is not sitting well with some members of the coaching staff.
When the Denver Broncos traded for Russell Wilson last offseason, they rolled out the red carpet for the quarterback. Among other things, the playmaker got his own office on the second floor of the team facility, where the coaching staff and executives also have their offices.
Now it comes out that some coaches apparently have a problem with this. According to a background report by The Athletic, members of the coaching staff felt it was bad for camaraderie in the Locker Room if Wilson secluded himself from his teammates.
According to one practice manager, the signal caller did say to his teammates that the door to his office was always open, however, the coach also wondered why Wilson even had his own office with a door in front of it.
“Are you a coach or are you a player?” the unnamed coach chimed in, “Your open door should be when you’re in the locker room at your locker. “
Broncos coaches unhappy about Wilson office
Another member of the coaching staff said the second-floor office would separate Wilson from his teammates. “The players were always on the first floor, they never really came to the second floor. If you came to the second floor as a player, honestly it wasn’t a good thing because you were probably going to get fired.”
Both coaches wished to remain anonymous, while Wilson’s teammates Kendall Hinton and Melvin Gordon got behind their quarterback and said they had no problem with the single office.
