The Baltimore Ravens are considered underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers. A role that doesn’t suit some players at all
The absolute top game in the NFL is scheduled for the night of Christmas Day: the San Francisco 49ers host the Baltimore Ravens. The best team in the AFC will play the best team in the NFC.
The fact that the Ravens are considered the underdogs by the bookmakers in the clash of the conference leaders does not sit well with many players. Several Baltimore professionals have commented on this in recent days. The tenor: the underdog status serves as perfect motivation.
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, for example, is of the opinion that the oddsmakers have made a mistake with the odds for the game – Baltimore is listed as the underdog by 4.5 points: “We feel a little disrespected by that,” he explained on “ESPN”.
“I feel like we’re the best team in the league, and we have an opportunity to show that in front of the country. “
The safety isn’t the only member of the Ravens secondary who is irritated by the underdog role. “I was surprised to see that,” cornerback Marlon Humphrey said.
“I want the odds to be proven wrong. And hopefully some people lose some money betting against us – and win some money betting on us. “
Lamar Jackson likes underdog role
Before the upcoming game day, Baltimore had only been underdogs once in 2023: in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Back then, the Ravens won 27-24.
At least one player seems to relish the underdog role – quarterback Lamar Jackson of all people: “I don’t want them to bet on us. I like being the underdog. I think we play better when we’re doubted and when people aren’t betting on us. So do that until February. That’s all I’m asking for.”
Both teams currently stand at a record of 11-3.
