In order to avoid problems in connection with sports betting, the NFL is pushing ahead with one of its measures and is probably issuing penalties against several teams at once.
For years, the NFL has been trying to avoid problems related to betting and gambling. This includes only allowing authorised people to be in the teams’ bench areas during games.
Now, according to “Pro Football Talk”, all teams have been informed that “several” of them have been fined $150,000 for violations of the field and bench access policy.
NFL fines several teams
This is to ensure that only authorised people are able to see and hear what is happening on the sideline benches so that inside information cannot leak out.
According to a source close to the league, an NFL official is on the sideline during games to watch for such violations and for compliance with other rules, such as the electronic device policy.
This is also about preventing the eavesdropping of sensitive information around the teams.
