Contract extension talks between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson continue to drag on. There’s a reason for that. Nevertheless, both sides remain optimistic.
Munich – The training camp of the Baltimore Ravens has started and still quarterback Lamar Jackson is without a new contract. As of now, the 25-year-old is entering his final year of his contract.
But why are talks between the 2019 MVP and the Ravens dragging on like this, even though both sides have repeatedly stressed that they would like to continue working together? The answer is simple: Lamar Jackson does not have a traditional adviser who discusses contract details with the club. The quarterback represents himself, supported by his mother.
However, with Jackson spending a lot of time on the field getting in shape for the upcoming season, talks with the franchise have fallen by the wayside as of late.
Head coach Harbaugh remains optimistic
Head Coach John Harbaugh confirmed as much at a press conference. “I can talk to both sides and both sides are very motivated to get the job done. So I feel like that’s the state of play. But Lamar trains all day, so it’s not like they’re negotiating all day like they would in a normal situation. That’s part of the deal. “
Still, an extension with Lamar Jackson, preferably before the season begins, is a top priority for the Ravens.
