Star quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints is suspended indefinitely with a serious injury.
Star quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints is out of the game with a serious injury for an indefinite period of time. According to ESPN, the 41-year-old NFL player suffered multiple rib fractures on both sides in Sunday’s 27-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, and his right lung collapsed.
Substitute Jameis Winston had finished the game in the quarterback position. For the Saints, Brees’ retirement is a hard blow: The franchise with a season’s record of 7:2 is considered a Super Bowl contender. Brees holds the record for the most pass touchdowns (565 versus Tom Brady’s 564) and pass yards (79,612) in league history.
