US President Joe Biden received the Super Bowl champions of the Kansas City Chiefs around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes during their traditional visit to the White House on Friday. Head coach Andy Reid presented Biden with a helmet from the NFL champions, which the President immediately tried on. There is one thing he wants to take an example from the Chiefs:

“I don’t know how many presidents have worn a helmet like this. That could have been historic,” said Reid, whose Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII 25-22 against the San Francisco 49ers on February 11.

It was the fourth title for Kansas City and the third for Mahomes after 2020 and 2023. The team’s top star therefore already had plenty of White House experience and took on the role of tour guide.

“It was cool to be the tour guide for the guys who weren’t there last year,” said Mahomes: “I showed them the paintings on the walls, the old furniture, everything. I’ve enjoyed it here every time – I hope we come back.”

And President Biden? He wants to take an example from the Chiefs: “Winning twice in a row. I like that.” The US presidential election will take place in November, in which Biden will once again be running against Donald Trump.

Kansas City Chiefs: Four titles, but only two visits

Since 1980, the reigning Super Bowl champion has traditionally been invited to the White House.

However, it was only the second visit for the Chiefs despite their four NFL titles: the tradition did not exist for the first title in 1969 and after the Super Bowl victory in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic prevented a visit to the President
